By selecting a degree programme you are able to see the general content as well as the possible degree programme-specific content. You do not have to select a degree programme to see the Open University's instructions.

The universities have withdrawn from the national Flexible Study Right (JOO) agreement starting from January 1, 2026.

New study rights for JOO studies have not been possible after July 31, 2025. This deadline also applies to applications for extensions to complete unfinished study modules. All study rights granted before this date will remain valid until the end of the granted study period.

The recognition of JOO studies

Credits are transferred to the home university's registry in accordance with the instructions provided by the home university. The responsibility for the credit transfer lies with the student.

University of Helsinki students apply for the recognition of studies (credit transfer) in Sisu. The Transcript of Records from the hosting university is required as an attachment for recognition application.

After completing your JOO-studies at the University of Helsinki, please follow these instructions to order a Transcript of Records.

Cross-institutional studies

Currently the University of Helsinki is investing in cross-institutional studies as a form of national student mobility.
