New opportunity for community input – Submit a faculty council initiative
The University community can now submit initiatives directly to faculty councils. Each initiative must be supported by at least ten people, drawn from at least two of the following groups represented in the University’s multimember bodies: professors; other teaching and research staff as well as other staff; and students.
Initiatives submitted to faculty councils are the latest way for the University community to influence University operations. This opportunity is based on an approved proposal by the working group preparing the implementation of the measures proposed in the TOIJO assessment. The purpose of the measure is to strengthen democracy in University operations.
Groups of at least ten University community members can submit initiatives to faculty councils. They must have the right to vote in elections for the relevant faculty council or study in degree programmes coordinated by the relevant faculty.
Submitted initiatives will be handled at faculty council meetings as matters to be discussed. For detailed instructions, see the Flamma page.
Those submitting initiatives must represent at least two groups with representation in the University’s multimember bodies, which include the following:
- University professors
- Other teaching and research staff as well as other staff
- Students
In other words, ten people representing only the second group cannot submit initiatives. The group must include either professors or students as well.
